About Us
Our Goal
Turning Your Timber into Fuel – Without the Hard Work.
At Log Splitter Hire & Services, we believe that every fallen tree or garden clearance is an opportunity. Instead of letting timber rot or paying for it to be taken away, we help you transform it into a high-quality resource for your home.
Based in the heart of the UK and serving customers nationwide, we provide a professional, mobile wood-processing service that takes the back-breaking labour out of firewood preparation.
Our Story & Mission
We started with a simple observation: most DIY log splitters are underpowered and often dangerous, and hiring a machine from a tool shop still leaves the customer with all the heavy lifting.
Our mission is to provide a complete solution. We don't just "hire" you a machine; we bring the expertise, the professional-grade equipment, and the muscle to your doorstep. Whether you have a single tree that came down in a storm or a large-scale estate clearance, we handle the job with speed and precision.
Why Our Equipment Sets Us Apart
We don't use standard "off-the-shelf" hobbyist machinery. To ensure our customers get the best value for their money, we have invested in state-of-the-art, custom-built equipment:
Precision Engineering: We use Carroll Engineering 8-ton splitters. Our 8-ton "Compact" unit is a narrow-access specialist—at just 750mm wide, it can navigate standard garden gates and tight side-alleys with ease.
Professional Speed: Our machines are "lightning fast." We process timber in a fraction of the time it takes for manual splitting, saving you hours (or even days) of work.
The Full Toolkit: We arrive fully equipped with Timbercroc Log Holders and Stihl chainsaws, allowing us to cross-cut your logs to the exact size required for your stove, firepit, or chiminea.
A Service Built on Reliability
We pride ourselves on being efficient, tidy, and cost-effective. We understand that every job is unique, which is why we offer bespoke pricing and travel nationwide to meet our clients' needs.
From the moment we arrive to the moment you see your stack of split firewood, our goal is to provide a seamless service that lets you enjoy the warmth of your fire without the sweat of the prep.

What to Expect
To ensure we provide the most efficient and safest service possible, here is a quick guide to how we set up on your property. Our goal is to be "in and out," leaving you with nothing but a neat pile of firewood.
1. Access Requirements
We specialize in reaching timber that others can't.
Narrow Access: Our custom 8-ton Carroll Engineering splitter is just 750mm wide. If a person can walk through a standard garden gate, our machine can usually follow.
Vertical Clearance: We require a height clearance of 1700mm for our compact machinery.
Site Entry: Please ensure paths are clear of obstacles (bins, bikes, or loose debris) before we arrive to maximize our working time.
2. The Setup Zone
For the best results, we look for a working area that is:
Level Ground: A flat, stable surface (driveway, patio, or firm lawn) is ideal for the stability of the splitting machinery.
Proximity to Timber: Ideally, we set up as close to your log pile as possible to minimize handling and speed up the processing time.
Clearance Space: We need a small "drop zone" for the split logs to land as they come off the machine.
3. Safety & Surroundings
Safety is our top priority. During operation:
Exclusion Zone: We maintain a small safety perimeter around the machinery. We ask that children and pets remain indoors or at a safe distance while the splitters and chainsaws are in use.
Noise & Dust: As we use professional petrol-powered Stihl saws and hydraulic splitters, there will be some noise and sawdust. We always aim to work quickly to minimize disruption to you and your neighbors.
4. After the Job
Waste Management: We focus on turning your wood into fuel. While we don't usually remove the sawdust, many customers find it’s excellent for garden mulch or composting!
Stacking: Our primary service is cutting and splitting. If you require the finished logs to be stacked in a specific shed or store, please let us know when requesting your quote so we can allocate the necessary time.
Still Unsure...?
Any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. We aim to be as helpful as we possibly can.
